Soapstone Fire Curtailment

Approximately 2:00 PM July 23, 2008 lightning which struck the ground about 300 yards south of the Roman ranch house, started a grass fire. A SEBI crew was in the area constructing roadway. Through the swift action taken by this crew, the fire was extinguished immediately. The heavy equipment operators responsible for this quick response are Larry Vigil, Gerald Carl and David Torset. I would like to thank these men for their actions. I have been given estimates of potential loss that could have occurred before even the nearest responders could have arrived. Estimated loss could have been between 800 and 1000 acres of short grass steppe land. In addition, there were 10-15 Youth Conservation Corps members camped in tents within 300 yards of this fire. This crew insured the safety of these campers as a result of their quick thinking and response.

Windsor Tornado Recovery Efforts

Schmidt Earth Builders and Employees Help Windsor Recovery Efforts

Windsor-based Schmidt Earth Builders, Inc. ("SEBI") wasted no time in helping Windsor to clean up after the May 22 tornados. SEBI contacted Windsor's Street Superintendent immediately after the storm and deployed 3 loaders and 3 side-dump trailers along with two crews that afternoon to help cut up downed trees and clear the debris in the ROWs. SEBI was on site from Thursday through Sunday, and many SEBI employees continued to volunteer even after their shift was over. Congratulations to the entire SEBI team for providing outstanding service to their community!
